I am suck on a couple of problems that I just don't understand. The book says the following problems refer to a right triangle ABC.
a. Find a, given sin A = 1/2, b = 1.
b. Find c, given cos A = 1/2, a = 1.
c. Find b, given sec A = 2, a = 1.

You do realize that we cannot see a diagram here.
That said, I sill use the standard understanding here.
\(\displaystyle \sin(A)=\frac{a}{c}=\frac{1}{2}\) so that \(\displaystyle 2a=c\).

\(\displaystyle c^2=a^2+b^2\) so that we get \(\displaystyle 4a^2=a^2+1\).

Now solve for \(\displaystyle a.\)

You try the others. Show us what you get.
