I like it, but I think you need to swap the labels for sides a and b, on your diagram.

After verifying your similar-triangle ratios, I used the formula for triangle area, to obtain your equation:

1 = (c/a * c/b) / (b/a + a/b)

Is that what you did?

cut-the-knot.org has a list of over 100 proofs (many involve similar triangles); you could send them yours. :cool:

PS: I didn't use the last line of your proof.
