Write an equation of the line that passes through the point (4,4)and is perpendicular to the line whose equation is 2x+y=7.

y=mx+b

I tried to figure it out but got so lost in my own figures that I cant figure out even where it started. The end answer I had was incorrect. Now I ge a second chance, PLEASE help me.

What have you tried?

Given y = mx + b and a point, substitute! 4 = m(4) + b

Now what? Perpendicular to 2x + y = 7

What is the SLOPE of this line?

What is the slope of a line PERPENDICULAR to a line with this slope?
