i know this is probably a no-brainer, but i'm having serious trouble factoring this one...2y^2 +20y+80
There happens to be no factors in the real numbers.
Using complex numbers we can factor it.
Do you want that?

Re: factoring a problem

no, i got it wrong, so now i have a new problem and i'm using the quadratic formula :(

What new problem? What are you saying?
I see no difference in the question.

Re: factoring a problem

no, i mean i do my homework online and i got the problem wrong, so they gave me a new question. i figured it out, though, but thanks a lot for letting me in on the fact that there were no real factors:)
