I cannot understand these questions.

1) A room is 36 meters long and 8 meters wide. Find the least numbers of whole square tiles with integer side lengths needed which will exactly cover the floor of the room.

A) 4
B) 8
C) 9
D) 18
E) 36

2) Find the length of the largest pencil that can easily fit inside a box which is 12 cm long, 9 cm wide and has a height of 8cm.
A) 8cm
B)9cm
c) 12cm
d) 15cm
e) 17cm
