the straight L has gradient 3 and passes through the point A(-6,4).
a) find an equation for L in the form y=mx+c
b) straight line R has the equation in the form of -7y+x+14=0. Given that R crosses the y-axis at the point B and intersects L at the point C, find the coordinates of B and C

Learning this myself and I think I can answer part a...

So the gradient = 3 and A(-6,4)
Therefore m=3, X=-6, Y=4. (x coordinate, y coordinate)
The equation is y-Y=m(x-X)
Which gives us a-4=3(x-(-6))
= y=3x-18+4
So the answer is (I think)

y = 3x - 22

Or..

Looking back at that, maybe the double negative in the brackets makes the answer y = 3x + 22
