Two planes take off from an airport at 9:15 a.m. One flies on a course of 86 degrees at a constant rate of 190 mph. The 2nd flies on a course of 176 degrees at 160 mph. How far apart are they at 10:45 a.m.?

A space-shuttle pilot flying toward the Suez Canal finds that the angle of depresion to one end of the canal is 38.25 degrees and the angle of depression to the other is 52.75 degrees. If the canal is 100.6 miles long, find the altitude (to the nearest tenth) of a space shuttle.

Two tugboats that are 120 degree feet apart pull a barge. If the lenght of one cable is 212 ft and the length of the other is 230 feet, find the angle formed by the 2 cables?

What have you thought about or tried? Where are you stuck?

Are you able to draw pictures that form triangles, from the information given in each scenario?

In that first exercise, you will need to find the distance that each plane flies during the elapsed time given, using their respective speeds. Can you do that part?
