In a circlewhose diameter is 20 inches, a chord is 6 inches from the center. What is the length of the chord?

Now what do I do to figure out the length of it??

After knowing the definition of a chord in a circle, sketch the given problem.

Draw a circle - draw the gicven chord - drop a perpendicular onto the chord from the center of the circle - then join one end of the chord to the center with a straight line.

Do you see a need to use Pythagorian theorem?
