Need help for my precal HW: tan(t) = -1/√(3), 2(sin(x))^2 - 5(cos(x)) - 4 = 0

I've been trying so much ,but now I'm just stuck on these problems, would very much appreciate a step by step walkthrough.

1. tan(t) = -1/√(3)
2. 2(sin(x))^2 - 5(cos(x)) - 4 = 0

2. 2(sin(x))^2 - 5(cos(x)) - 4 = 0..............Hint: use sin^2(x) = 1- [FONT=&quot]cos^2(x) and then use quadratic equation[/FONT]

I solved number 1, but when I used the quadratic formula and ended up with 3/2, and 1 for number 2. I entered in 2pi,1pi/6,11pi/6 , but still displays that it's incorrect.

What is the "it" that is "displaying that it's incorrect"? How did "3/2 and 1" become "2pi, (1/6)pi, and (11/6)pi"? When you reply, please show your work. Thank you!
