Agency requests = $450,000
Expenses = 10% of goal
Agency requests = $450,000
Ray was in his first year as head of the United Way in his local community. In working on the plan for his first fund raising campaign, he read that the United Way allows 10% of the goal to be used for campaign expenses (advertising, printing, lunches with important contributors, etc.). Having already met with the local agencies, he knew that the total of their requests for the campaign was $450,000.
He was a bit puzzled – the campaign goal included the expenses, but he wasn’t sure how to figure out what the expense budget was. How could he figure out 10% of a number he didn’t know yet?
In summary:
