quick question

this is a cone shaped chandelier

the diameter at the top fixing plate is 1000

the drop is 2800

is it safe to say that the diameter at the middle of the chandelier will be 500?

How to I figure our the diameter at any given point ?

I would be grateful for your feedback.

You have a "Similar Triangles" argument that agrees with your assessment.

If you draw a triangle from the very bottom, to the desired height, an then to the edges of the diameter, you will ALWAYS find the same ratio of side lengths.

Whole Thing: 1000 x 2800 (Notice 2800 / 1000 = 2.8)
1/4 of the way up from the bottom: 1000 * 1/4 x 2800 * 1/4 ==> 250 x 700 (Notice 700 / 250 = 2.8)
1/2 of the way up from the bottom: 1000 * 1/2 x 2800 * 1/2 ==> 500 x 1400 (Notice 1400 / 500 = 2.8)
3/4 of the way up from the bottom: 1000 * 3/4 x 2800 * 3/4 ==> 750 x 2100 (Notice 2100 / 750 = 2.8)
