Thank you in advance for any help, it is much appreciated.

The task is to solve for n:

[MATH] \frac{x}{y} = za - b [/MATH]
where: [MATH] a = \frac{n^2-n}{2} [/MATH] and [MATH] b = n^2 - 2n [/MATH]
 
When you substitute in a and b you will have a quadratic equation in n. Collect terms and use the quadratic formula.
