Algebra

With only one linear equation, solving for y & x is meaningless.
Usually one has a system of two linear equations.

I have to solve for x and y on the equation

6y+7x+8=90
Start by going backwards. 90-8=82. Then it is pretty simple see as X=10 and Y=2. So the problem would be 6 2+7 10+8=90.

That is total nonsense!

sorry! how would I solve that same equation just for x

Thanks for your help

Beginning with 6y + 7x + 8 = 90, to solve for x you simply put all other terms on one side, leaving the x term (7x) by itself on the left.

7x = -6y - 8 + 90

Then simplify, and finally divide all terms by 7 to have x = ....

I'll let you do that part.
