Hi, I have my midterms for Algebra I tommorow, and looking at this site has helped me to review and explained some things I didn't know in a simple way. However, I'm having some trouble remembering how to do And/Or inequalities and absolute value problems. I don't remember exactly what they're called, so I didn't see it in the lesson list. Examples would be

|a+b| < c

|a+b| > c

If I remember correctly, the first one is an "and" problem, and the 2nd one is an "or", but how would I do those again?

What I think I know for the first one is

Drop the lines.
a+b < c
a+b > -c
And to graph it.
O--------O
_________________________________
And the second

Drop the lines.
a+b > c
a+b < -c
And to graph it.
<----O O----->

And the circles would be filled if it was > or equal too.

I don't know how to use fancy text to get the actual characters for equations (< or equal too sign, which is the < with the line under it for example). If anyone could help me do that it would be appreciated. Thank you.

To learn, study at least two online lessons, making sure to follow through the worked examples.

You can learn how to use LaTeX by following the appropriate links in the "Forum Help" pull-down menu at the very top of every forum page. To underline, use the "u" button in the formatting line above the message-entry box. (You can find more information about this by reviewing the article regarding BBCode.) For information on how to type math as plain text, try here.
