Given the following floor plan, which isn't drawn to scale, find:

a. The perimeter
b. The area

The measurements are 12m, 8m, 7m and 2m

Answers:

a. P= 12m + 2m + 7m + 8m = 29m

b. A= l x b
= 12m x 8m x 7m x 2m
= 1344m^2

please can someone correct me if I'm wrong

Perimeter is correct.

Area cannot be calculated with the given information.

As Subhotosh Kahn said, there is not enough information to find area. If you have four rods of these lengths, you could attach them with pins, and the quadrilateral would "flex" with different angles and so different areas.

More importantly, you say "A= l x b" but then multiply all four lengths together! You see that multiplying four lengths, measured in meters, would give units of "\(\displaystyle m^4\)", not "\(\displaystyle m^2\)", don't you?

Most floor plans are not perfect rectangles. If that's the case here, there should be some addition involved in the area calculation.
