the 1st polynomial is a factor of the second; find the other factprs

(y^3+4y^2+y-6)/(y+3)

-----y^2+
y+3|y^3+4y^2+y-6
-----y^3+3y^2
-----------y ??? would i subtract?

final answer = (y+2)(y-1)

Do you mean to say that the denominator polynomial is a factor of the numerator polynomial...? Are you trying to do long polynomial division...?

Please reply with clarification. Thank you.

final answer = (y+2)(y-1)
