Unlike numbers, functions do not have to be even or odd. Even or odd refers to how they are symmetrical. 7x^4-3x+9 is neither even nor odd.
f(-x) would be completely negated if it were odd, and completely unchanged if it were even. Since neither is the case, the function is neither even nor odd.
