Find angle formed between two external congruent tangents of two circles

Hello,

I am having a little issue with trying to figure out a problem. Please refer to problem 39 in the picture attached below

help is greatly appreciated! :)

Join the centers of the circles and the apex of the angle (those will be in one st. line)

Now use similar triangle theorem....

Could Subhotosh Khan or Denis help out with a diagram? i am having difficulties understanding the joining of centers together.

P.S. I am trying to figure out how to explain this to my GF... I am currently taking upper division Analysis courses but it has been days since i took trig and geometry.. need a little refresher
