Find Probabality

If the probability of event a is x and the probability of event b is y, and the two events are independent, then the probabiilty both occur is xy. That's a pretty basic rule of probability- surely you have seen it before!

I want to find the answers for the question (i) and (ii)

thanks you.. first part is ok. in the (ii) nd part , can we get these two events are dependent ? plese help me

The probability of "both A and B happen" is "probability that A happens times probability that B happens given that A happened".

The probabilith that a machine is not in good working condition is 0.006. If one fails then the probabiity the second machine fails is 0.007. The probability both machines fail is (0.006)(0.007)= 0.000042.

Thank you so much.
