Find the \(\displaystyle x\)-intercept and the \(\displaystyle y\)-intercept of the graph of the equation.

\(\displaystyle x - 2y = 8\)

The \(\displaystyle x\)-intercept:

\(\displaystyle x - 2(0) = 8\)

\(\displaystyle x = 8\)

Or \(\displaystyle \textcolor{blue}{(8,0)}\)

The \(\displaystyle y\)-intercept:

\(\displaystyle 0 - 2y = 8\)

\(\displaystyle y = -4\)

Or \(\displaystyle \textcolor{blue}{(0,-4)}\)

x - 2y = 8

x = 0

(x - 2y) - x = 8
-2y = 8
y = -4
(0, -4), y intercept

---

y = 0
.(x - 2y) - y = 8
x - 3y = 8
x = 8
(8, 0), x intercept
