If I were to do your assignment, I would first convert the given equation to the following form by completing squares :

(x + h)^2 + (y + k)^2 = r^2 ................................................ edited

and continue ....

how do I complete squares. Im confused. I dont understand?
 
\(\left[x^2+6x+9\right]+\left[y^2-10y+25\right]=-18+9+25\)
