Given list of values & a result, can formula used to get the result be determined

I am NOT a mathmetician and so if this is a dumb question I apologize.
My question is: If you are given a list of decimal numbers and a decimal result from a hidden equation that produced the result, can the hidden formula somehow be determined by looking at the list of decimal numbers. Thanks for your patience with this question. I am sorry if I posted in the wrong area.
