Hello Members,

I am looking for the equation to find the vertical height/length and slanted length of a truncated/frustum cone.

Have searched net, but all references refer to knowing the height or slant length.

Base of cone has 4 inch diameter - top has 1 inch diameter -5 degree tilt from vertical(85 degree inside).

Would appreciate the help.

Height of truncated cone

If cone not cut off, can you "see" a right triangle with one leg = 2 inches and an angle = 85?
The hypotenuse would be slanted length of full cone, the other leg its height.

Is that enough to "get you going on the path to glory"?;)

Cheers Denis,

I think I was over- complicating it.

Tan of cone as a whole minus tan of smaller cone (17.14 inches)
Slant height = sqrt h sqrd + (R-r)sqrd

Sorted.
