The vertex is 1 below the x axis so it is (y+1)
It is two to the left so it is (x+2)²
Result: (y+1)=-(x+2)²

You were given this equation:

y + 1 = - (x + 2)<SUP>2</SUP>

You want it in the form "y = something"

Subtract 1 from both sides of the equation......neither of the answers you've given is correct. (Look closely at your second answer choice to see what's missing.)
