Help with subtracting negative interger

- (-4 - 7) +(-2)

This is the problem i have been trying to work out. I know the answer is 9 but i don't see how?

I thought it would be.... -4-7=-11 + -2 = -13..

If anyone could I help explain what i am doing wrong i would great appreciate it! :)

You forgot about the negative sign outside of the first set of parentheses.

-(-4-7) + (-2) = -(-11) + (-2) = 11 + (-2) = 11 - 2 = 9
