i need help on finding the quadratic formulas

Can someone help me on solving this quadratic formula?
x^2+7x=18

Thanks i would really appreciate it
 
Start by setting the equation equal to zero. To do this you must subtract 18 from each side.

Your new equation should look like this:

x^2+7x-18=0

Do you know the quadratic equation. If you do, just put the values you have into the equation and solve.

Your A would be 1

Your B would be 7

Your C would be -18 These are your coefficents in the equation.
 
Move the "18" over with the other terms, so you get the required "(quadratic) = 0" format. Then plug the coefficients into the Formula.

Since the instructions say to use the Quadratic Formula to solve, factoring to solve might not be acceptable.

You certainly can factor IF it can be factored. Try 9 and 2.

One can factor, but one might not receive credit for having factored, since the instructions specified a different method. It will depend upon the instructor, I suppose.
