Hi, everyone. My professor dealt with constant rate word problems the other day in my intermediate algebra class, but I couldn't attend that particular session. The first problem is thus:

Joe can complete a job in 6 hours and Lynn can complete the same job in 5 hours. How long would it take to complete the job if they worked together?

I would be much appreciated for any help on these kinds of problems, as I don't really know where to start. Thanks in advance.

Joe can complete 1/6 of the job in 1 hour.

Lynn can complete 1/5 of the job in 1 hour.

So if they work together (and don't get in each other's way), what fraction of the job they could finish?
