Hi, I am having trouble figuring out this problem and doing it on a calculator. Can someone please help me out? Thanks!


The illicit use of methamphetamine has skyrocketed in rural areas. The chemical by-products of creating the drug are a big environmental hazard, and toxic spill cleanup crews are often called in to clean up abandoned meth labs. The table below shows the number of meth labs cleaned by toxic spill crews in Washington State alone.

a) Find an equation for "f."
b) Use "f" to predict in which year the number of meth labs cleaned by
toxic spill crews will equal the number of households in Washington.
Assume there are 2.2 million households in Washington.
 
Are you supposed to be finding a regression equation in your calculator?

How far have you gotten with that? What variables have you picked? What do they stand for? How are you labelling the years? (Is "1995" marked as "t = 1995", or as "t = 0", because that's where you started counting? Or as something else?) What regression equation did the calculator get? And what sort of regression were you supposed to do? Or do you get to choose?
