(p^(x - y)(p^(3y - x) =

I am working on this problem, I don't know how to start it or what to solve for. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Just add the exponents!
You will get p?.

Here's a simple example, so you're CONVINCED:

(2^2)(2^3) = 4 * 8 = 32

Add the exponents: 2^(2+3) = 2^5 = 32

Try a few others on your own...
