is it usually required in more advanced math to memorize mensuration formulas such as sphere and cone volumes. etc? or is this knowledge unimportant later?

Memorization is very very useful. If you are in science field - specially engineering - you would use those at least several thousand times.
You could always look those up in a hand-book or derive from more fundamental process (taught later in calculus) - but like "multiplication" tables - life will be lot easier if you memorize those formulae.
im into economy and business,n but what i meant is, are they used in advanced tests? like advanced applied math, stats, mechanics? im passing a cambridge igcse a level.
