9x/3x-1+4/3x+1=3

I am having issues with this one. Do you use the Quadratic formula? How do you get this in the 3x^2=4x/3=3 form??????? :?:

in future, use correct grouping symbols for clarity's sake ...

9x/(3x-1) + 4/(3x+1) = 3

common denominator is (3x+1)(3x-1) ...

9x(3x+1)/[(3x+1)(3x-1)] + 4(3x-1)/[(3x+1)(3x-1)] = 3

[9x(3x+1) + 4(3x-1)]/[(3x+1)(3x-1)] = 3

9x(3x+1) + 4(3x-1) = 3(3x+1)(3x-1)

27x2 + 9x + 12x - 4 = 3(9x2 - 1)

27x2 + 21x - 4 = 27x2 - 3

21x - 4 = -3

21x = 1

x = 1/21

what were you saying about the quadratic formula?

:lol: YOU HELPED ME SO MUCH!!!! IT SEEMS MUCH EASIER TO ME NOW!
