Natural aluminum is all \(\displaystyle {}^{27}_{13}\text{Al}\). If it absorbs a neutron, what does it become? Does it decay by \(\displaystyle \beta^{+}\) or \(\displaystyle \ \beta^{-}\)? What will be the product nucleus?

Let us calculate the nuclear reaction.

\(\displaystyle {}^{27}_{13}\text{Al} + {}^{1}_{0}\text{n} \longrightarrow {}^{28}_{13}\text{Al}\)

So, it becomes \(\displaystyle \textcolor{blue}{{}^{28}_{13}\text{Al}}\)
