Negative Exponents

How would you solve 2 to the negative 2
Also how do I type this problem in?

You can indicate an exponent this way: "x squared" is written as x^2

Use " ^ " to indicate an exponent.

So, you have 2 ^ (-2), which means "2 raised to the power of -2"

I think you need to review the definition of a negative exponent:

a^(-n) = 1 / a^n

So,

2^-2 = 1 / 2^2

Can you finish your problem now? If not, please reply and tell us where you are "stuck."

2[sup:27eblrvz]-2[/sup:27eblrvz] is typed by typing "2-2", then hi-liting "-2" and clicking on the "sup" button above.
