operations puzzle: use 2, 5, 10, 50, subtract, then div,

my son in the fifth grade was given the following problem: he must use the following numbers2,5,10,50 he must subtract the first two numbers then divide, then add and it must equal 50. is there a specific way to figure out problems like this logically

You do not say, but can the numbers be rearranged in any order? Can you insert grouping symbols?

Plus are you SURE you typed the problem correctly;
the 4th number being 50, plus result equal 50, sure looks fishy to me...

Must the order you typed be maintained?
You can have 10 / 5 - 2 + 50 = 50, or 10 / 2 - 5 + 50 = 50, but that starts with the division...
