Hi!

I really need some help on this because I just don't know where to start! I'm basically trying to find out what mark I need to get on average in my next tests to secure a first class degree (70%).

Ok here's the info i've got:

My second year is worth 36% of my over all degree which consisted of six modules each worth 6%. Overall I got 70% in this year (70% is a first class)

My third year is worth 64% consisting of five modules - one is worth 24% while the remaining four are 10%. I have recieved marks back from two of these 10% modules, one coming out at 67% the other at 68%.

So can someone tell me a) what percent am I at now and b) what percent I need to get from my remaining modules (2x 10% modules and the 24% module) in order to get a first class which is 70%

Hope you can help, sorry if this sounds waaaay too confusing :?

What about the marks received in first year - arn't those counted??

No first year isn't counted at all.

Maybe if I give a break down of my marks it'll help, because now I think about it im not sure I did get 70% in my second year. So:

Second year marks: (each module is worth 6% making a total of 36% which is what 2nd year is worth)
Module 1 - 72%
M2- 72%,
M3 - 72%
M4 - 70%
M5 - 68%
M6 - 66%

Third Year marks: M1- 68%, M2 - 67%, the other three modules are yet to be taken, one of which is worth 24% of the third year, the others are worth 10%. The third year counts for 64% of the overall degree.

Contribution of your second year to your final grade is = 25.2
contribution of the two tests (3rd yr.) = 13.5

So you have gathered 38.7 points at this point - you need 31.3 points to score 70 points in total.

What average do I need from each remaining module do you know? I'm having a hard time understanding it all  One module is worth 24% and the other two are worth 10%

Say you score identically "x" in all the remaining three tests.

Now take the proper percentages of "x" - for each test - then equate the sum to 31.3

Show us youe work - we'll unstuck you.

Ermmmm......

Okay, say I get 67% in all three tests. The two 10% modules would come out at 6.7% and the 24% would come to 16.08%, that all equals up to 29.48%, which is just off my target of 31.3%, so...I need to get just over 67% in each? :?

Is that right????

My maths is really shocking, I haven't done any for around 7 years since I left high school. ..
