Jim is now twice as old as Fred and two years older than Sam. Four years ago, Jim was four times as old as Sam. How old is Jim now?
a. 8
b. 12
c. 16
d. 20
e. 24

Start with assigning variable name to unknowns. Foer example:

Let the present ages of:

Jim = J

Fred = F and

Sam = S

Jim is now twice as old as Fred → J = 2 * F

Jim is now two years older than Sam → J = S + 2

And continue....
