Please Help with these questions !

Hi Guys can you please answer these question and show each step and explain in detail, I am very weak in maths and would love your help !


1. An Orienteer walks 11.5 km on a bearing of 217° and then 8.3km on a bearing of 271°. Find the distance and bearing of the orienteer from his starting point.




2. A triangle has an area of 85cm^2. If two of the sides are 18cm and 11cm, determine the length of the third side.




3. At 12 noon a ship leaves port and travels at 8 km/h along a straight course in the direction N25°E. At 2pm a second ship leaves the same port and travels at 9km/h in the direction S45°E. The radio communication between the two ships has a range of 75km. Will the two ships still be able to communicate by 6 pm ?


Please help me I need to finish these questions in a few hours !

I have solved the triangle question, but I need some assistance with the bearing ones.

A good place to start might be with drawing a picture of the paths and angles.

I have actually solved both of them and I think I got it correct but the teacher says they are wrong :sad:

I also showed it to a person who is studying medicine and they could not fault it, so I am confused as f !
