\(\displaystyle \textcolor{indigo}{\bold{Solve.}}\)

Plot the point whose rectangular coordinates are \(\displaystyle (3,-1)\). What quadrant does the point lie in?

For point (3, -1), the value of x is 3 and the value of y is -1. The general point (x, -y) lies in quadrant 4.
