Find two quadrants in which there are no points on the graph of xy = 12.

would this be I & III
 
On what basis did you choose those two quadrants? You've drawn the graph and... then what?

STAPEL has asked you an appropriate, leading question. Please answer the question.

Pick a value for x and see what value for y goes with your x-value. What quadrant is it in? Do this with several points. See if you leave out a quadrant or two.

The idea is to experiment and learn, not to have answers painted for you.
