I'm working on an algebra 2pre-calculus problem on a ti-83 plus graphing calculator, and I have no idea where to start.
The problem starts by giving a chart of data representing "scores on an algebra test and a later calculus test for a group of students". We are directed to treat the algebra test score for each student as the independent variable and the calculus test score as the dependent variable.
The scores are:
(Algebra/ Calculus)
Student A: 17/73
B: 21/66
C: 11/64
D: 16/61
E: 15/70
F: 11/71
G: 24/90
H: 27/68
I: 19/84
J: 8/52
The question is:
a) use a graphing calculator to draw a scatter diagram
b) use a graphing calculator to find the equation of the line of best fit and graph it
c) interpret the slope
d) predict the score the student would receive on the calculus achievement test if she scored a 20 on the algebra achievement test.
I think I understand steps A and B, but I'm not sure. However, once I get to C I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing. Thanks for any help anyone can give me!
