6/k+1 - 1/k = 1

6/k+1 = 1+ 1/k
6 = (1+ 1/k) * k+1
6 = k * 1/k + 2
4 = k * 1/k
4k = k^2 +1
0 = k^2 - 4k +1
k = (4 + or - the squre root of -4^2 - 4(1)(1))/2
k = (4 + or - the square root of 12)/2
 
Looks good. Except maybe write your solutions as:

\(\displaystyle \L\\\sqrt{3}+2 \;\ and \;\ 2-\sqrt{3}\)
