Solve 16t^2 = 24t + 15 for t.

Do I get t by itself first and then set equation to 0?

I'm confused. Please help.

No...

You start with

16t2 - 24t - 15 = 0

What methods of solving quadratic equations have been taught?

Re: Solving quadratic equation

When I solve 16t^2 = 24t +15 for t,

I get: t = 1.974744871. To how many decimal places should I round this when my instructor did not specify?

If I do not work further with the answer, I prefer to leave it in radical form. By the way, you should have two solutions for 't' (unless you can rule out one of the values through physical conditions).

Correct; also a 2nd solution: t = ~-.475 ; ~ means approximately; like ~1.974

You seem to know what yer doin' Lady Fort; show more confidence

And why are you asking us to "guess" what your instructor expects?
YOUR guess is as good as anybody's :!:
