Hello I am 13 years old and I am preparing for a word problem maths challenge. Ive been practising using worksheets given by my school.

I am just so confused with this question.

Q. A wall 8m long and 4m high is completely covered with 2500 square tiles.
How many horizontal rows are there?

what I have done is:

1. converted meters to cm
2. calculated the area
3. then i am stuck, i think i need to work out each tiles area.

Please check the problem statement - and make sure you have the correct number of tiles.

As presented, it is coming out as an "irrational number".

Total area of the wall = 800 cm * 400 cm = 320000 cm2

Assume that the area each tile is L cm by L cm (L2 cm2)

So

2500 * L2 = 320000
