I don't understand the reasoning behind the answers to these types of problems:

sec pie/2=z ans:no

tan pie/2=z ans:no

tan z=3pie/2 ans:yes

cos pie=z ans:yes

What was the question/s?

I know the answers, I just don't understand why they do and do not work?
And until you tell us what "they" are doing (what the instructions were), we cannot assist. So kindly please respond to the question earlier put to you. Thank you.

sec(pie/2) = z ans: no

The equation in red above is not a question.

It is a statement that somebody has chosen to let the symbol z represent the secant of the angle with measure Pi/2 radians, if this secant exists.

Is this the question, whether or not z exists, in these four equations?

You have not asked any questions. :?
