Hello jbowen:

Be sure to check out the forum guidelines.

The phrase "write expression in terms of sin beta and cos beta" tells us that the answer may contain only sines and/or cosines.

When you look at your list of basic identities, what do you see for tangent and secant? Look for expressions that use sine and/or cosine.

Continue, by making the appropriate substitutions for tangent and secant, in the given equation.

Cheers

Can you write sec(ß) in terms of sin(ß) and/or cos(ß) ? - replace sec2(ß) in terms of sin(ß) and/or cos(ß)

Can you write tan(ß) in terms of sin(ß) and/or cos(ß) ? - replace tan2(ß) in terms of sin(ß) and/or cos(ß)

Now simplify...

If you are still stuck - show work...
