Please could you verify if I have the following question correct:

1. A 45-pound force parallel to an inclined ramp keeps a 550-pound object from sliding down the inclined ramp. Find the angle of inclination (to the nearest tenth of a degree) of the ramp.

sin beta = opp/hyp = 45/550 = 0.081818181 degrees.

inverse sin 0.081818181 degrees = 4.693082508 degrees = 4.7 degrees.

Thank you.

Please could you help with the following question:

i. A box is being pulled by means of two ropes. One rope exerts 60 pounds of force at 16 degrees above the horizontal. The other rope exerts 54 pounds of force at 26 degrees below the horizontal. Find the direction and magnitude of the resultant of the two forces.

Is this?:

AB = 60 sin 16 degrees = 16.53824135 pounds upwards.

AC = 54 sin 26 degrees = 23.67204193 pounds downwards.

Therefore AB + AC = 40.21028328 pounds = 40 pounds horizontally.
