A chemist has two mixtures of alcohol solution available to him, one that is 35% and one that is 77%. How many liters of the 35% alocohol solution should be added to5 liters of the 77% alcohol solution to obtain a solution that is 60% alcohol?

Equate the amounts of alcohol.
x*.35 + 5*.77 = (x+5)*.60
