The midpoint means that distance AC = distance CB.

You are correct when you make the two expressions equal:
\(\displaystyle 5x+3 = 7x+9 \)

To solve that, combine all terms with \(\displaystyle x\) on one side, and all terms without \(\displaystyle x\) on the other, combine like terms, and divifr by the coefficient of \(\displaystyle x\).
