Hey i tried doing this problem but keep failing and i don't get a right answer, the problem solving programs dont help either, thanks.
\(\displaystyle \sqrt{\strut 2^{x-78}\,}\, -\, 5\, \times\, \sqrt{\strut 2^{x-84}\,}\, =\, 96\)
Elegant. My first thought is to use a property of exponents, to rewrite 2^(x-84) in terms of 2^(x-78). This way, I could avoid having to square both sides of the given equation twice (which could get messy).
