A wool suit, discounted by 30 percent for a clearance sale, has a price tag of 399 dollars. What was the suit's original price?

Solution:

100 percent - 30 percent = 70 percent.

Let p = original price

0.70p = 399

p = 399 ÷ 0.70

p = 570 dollars

Yes?

Reduce $570 by 30%. Do you get $399? It's easier to check your own answers here than typing all your working out.

Please check your answers, before posting about them. If you confirm a result, then you don't need to post your practice work or ask us to check it. Thank you.
